ACT at RHS
Each year, our school district is provided a date (typically in February or April) to offer the ACT to juniors and seniors enrolled at Rockford High School. This date along with test information is communicated to RHS families prior to winter break of the same school year.
ACT Registration Information
National Dates for the ACT are listed below. To take the ACT on one of the national test dates, students need to register at ACT.org. For more information on ACT registration, fees, test dates, sample questions and more, please click here.
It is recommended that you take the ACT + writing. Have your scores sent directly to colleges when you register. It is FREE to send to colleges at registration. If you need to send scores later you will pay $12 per college. Students will also need to upload a photo when they register. That photo will be printed on the student's test admission ticket and the roster provided to proctors at testing sites. Testing staff will compare the submitted photo to a photo ID and to the student in person at the testing site. Don’t forget to upload the photo, and to bring an ID with you on testing day!
Format of the ACT
The ACT is composed of four multiple-choice sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—and one optional essay section—Writing. Total testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes for the ACT without Writing and 3 hours and 35 minutes for the ACT with Writing. For a breakdown of each test section, please click here.
