Rockford Area Schools 2nd Annual Staff Talent Show
Saturday night, February 2, 2013, the Rockford Area Schools 2nd annual staff talent show entertained a packed auditorium at Rockford High School despite snowy conditions outside.
From the opening act in which Rockee led a marching drum line down the aisle to the grand finale staff band performance, the night was filled with talented performances.
Other acts included a return of the all staff choir with solos and duets by Gerry Starr, Darren Eliason, Rachel Yakesh, Jennifer Piehl and Paula Wanous; Bobble-Head Dancers-(who stole the show); Go-Granny-Go by the Community Center Sr. Fitness Team; a four-handed piano piece entitled Sleigh Ride, featuring Superintendent Durand on jingle bells.
The talented Rockford student body also assisted in the show with acts from the Chamber Singers, Rockford High School Gymnastics Team, percussionists and saxophone players from the sr high band, and an act from Napoleon Dynamite. Performing from the elementary school was Rayna Aker with a rendition from the musical, Annie. The second half of the show included a musical solo by Jan Larsen, activities secretary and the elementary staff dancing their way through the years to Evolution of Dance.
100% of the proceeds of the show again benefited the organizations who support Rockford Schools: PIE, Booster Club/Music Partners, Dollars for Scholars, and Education Foundation. Rockee was available during intermission to meet and greet and Rockee Dolls and Books were available for purchase.
A new item was also unveiled, the 1st Staff Healthy Cookbook, which is available for sale at the district office and community center for $10.00. The cookbook contains healthy recipes submitted by Rockford Staff Members.
