Rockford Area Schools is committed to supporting a school environment that promotes and protects students' health, well-being and ability to learn by encouraging healthy eating and physical activity. In partnership with Taher, our Food Service department offers a wide variety of healthy choices for all students.

School Meals Information

During the 2023 Minnesota Legislative Session, lawmakers signed into law the Free School Meals program for students beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. All students will be eligible for one reimbursable breakfast and one reimbursable lunch per day free of charge. Even with this change, districts are still required to keep track of meals served to each individual child and families that qualify for benefits.

Rockford Area Schools will continue to collect the Application for Educational Benefits to determine if students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students qualifying for benefits increase federal and state funding to support learning experiences for students in ISD 883. Qualifying for benefits also helps your family reduce fees in other areas of your child’s school experience. The Application for Educational Benefits form is available to complete electronically through your Parent Portal account, or the document can be found below.

Please note, per our School Board approved School Meals Policy 534R, Low Account Balance and Negative Account Balance email reminders will continue to be sent. Since Rockford Area Schools is not receiving additional meal funding at this time, it remains the parent(s)’ or guardian’s responsibility to ensure adequate funds are available in the meal account. Meal payments may be made online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal for each individual student. Payments can also be made in any school building office via cash or check.

Meal Account Information

All account activity, including purchases and deposits, can be viewed on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Online payments can be made to your account via the Parent Portal. Cash or check payments can also be made in any school office.

• The School District will make reasonable efforts to notify families when meal account balances are low, starting at $10.00 or less.
• Any meal accounts with a balance over -$5.00 will not be allowed to charge a la carte items or a second additional entree.
