Trap Shooting

  • Message from the Coach about the 2020 season:

The spring sports season is just around the corner and the Rockford Trap Shooting team is getting ready to begin its 7th season.  This is a very fun, competitive, and safe sport that is open to 7th through 12th graders. Last season, we came in 3rd in our conference and had 3 shooters in the top 25! We expect 27 shooters from last year's team to return though we did have 11 seniors graduate last year so if you have an interest in joining a great team for a very fun sport, please contact Coach Kyal Klawitter ( or call 612-250-3895 to find out more information.  Previous experience is NOT required to join the team and we have great coaches who will help you along the way.

Shooters are required to have completed the MN DNR Fire Arms Safety Certification but there is still time to do that prior to the season so do not hesitate to contact Coach Kyal.  The team shoots practice on Sundays and competes on Tuesday evenings at Buffalo gun club along with other tournaments and practice opportunities throughout the season.  Your activity fees cover the practices and competitions however shooters do need to furnish their own shotgun and ammunition. There is a hard registration deadline of March 16th with the league as well as a sign up process through the school district and a required new shooter orientation so do not delay in contacting Coach Kyal if you have interest.  The team will be starting pre-season practices and tune ups using an electronic simulator called DryFire very shortly. This is a fun way to get started and learn the basic concepts prior to the season without using any live ammo in a relaxed environment with your fellow teammates.

Mark your calendar for the Spring Sports Meeting:

We look forward to hearing from you!
